MercyCare Maddington RAC

Warm and uplifting with natural light streaming through the windows and beautiful gardens that surround, are the first impressions the new MercyCare Maddington Residential Aged Care (RAC) home evokes.

Together with MercyCare, MKDC and project Architects (Hodge Collard Preston and GroupGSA) have recently celebrated the completion of the MercyCare Maddington RAC, in February 2024.

The building comprises of six wings, each working as a standalone operational house linked together by the creation of destination spaces including; a wellness café, day spa, activity areas, enabling kitchens, wellness rooms and multiple sensory gardens over 2 storeys. The back of house area has been designed with operational efficiency and discretion in mind, as well as comfort and wellness for the staff workspace and facilities.

MKDC was both Lead Interior Designer and Client Advocate, assisting MercyCare to develop the brief and designing to support their domestic scale model of care. A holistic design approach was applied with our extensive knowledge of designing for aged care and dementia specific design, as well as biophilic (nature loving) design principles to create spaces that support, heal and bring comfort and joy. Our services for this project also included artwork curation, and design and procurement management for top layer styling.

MKDC are proud to have provided a pivotal and consistent role in the overall design of this important project for MercyCare. The domestic and intimate house scale of the spaces are well balanced with a fresh natural finishes pallet, that has resulted in an aged care facility that will serve MercyCare well into the future, and one that will allow the residents and surrounding community of Maddington to feel shared pride in calling this home.
