DWER Workplace

MKDC were appointed by the Department of Finance (BMW) to design a workplace for the future. Their client, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, were relocated to the new purpose-built building in Joondalup in 2019.

Spanning 6 levels and 10,000m², MKDC designed an agile, future-ready workplace for DWER.

The design narrative takes you on a journey through the building from ‘subterranean’, on the aforementioned ground floor meeting and training suites, through to ‘air’ which connects to the Department’s innate purpose then executed through the use of unique raw, recycled and sustainable materials.

The project was benchmarked to achieve a 5-star Greenstar interiors certification in alignment with the Government of WA’s ‘best practice’ approach to sustainability. Overall, it has been a remarkable success for both the client and MKDC.
